Position Summary:
As a member of OpenLight’s test engineering team, the candidate will work closely with a team of experienced engineers in designing, implementing, and executing test solutions to validate the functionality of Silicon Photonics devices and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) at the wafer level, die level, and package level. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical and electrical device testing with experience in test automation in python. The position is onsite at our Goleta CA location.
Main Responsibilities:
- Install, calibrate, and operate custom silicon photonics wafer test stations
- Download the test data, run the analysis software, and publish the results
- Reviewing test results for accuracy, and debug failures
- Execute DVT testing on 1.6T and 3.2 T optical transceivers using industry-standard equipment like BERTs, DCAs, VNAs, and AWGs.
- Write and debug the test automation scripts in python, and verify the analysis equations
- Perform data analysis in Jmp or python, and communicate with internal and external customers on the test plans, results, and project status
- Supervise our facilities technician and equipment contractors for ongoing equipment maintenance
Required experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
- Hands on experience in a physics or electrical engineering lab or industry
- Programming experience in python
- Demonstrated experience in data acquisition systems and data analysis, and fitting test data to model equations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Initiative and ability to work independently
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in photonic and high-speed RF testing, fiber optics, fiber to PIC alignment
- Electronic hardware and mechanical design of PCBAs and test jigs
- Experience with testing on wafer probers
- ATE test experience on the Advantest 93k platform
- C programming experience
- Background in integrated optics
