Job Title: Dyno Operator

Location: Milford, MI

Duration: 12 Month contract with possible extension

Pay Range: $29 - $30 per hour in W2

Job Summary:

The Dyno Operator is responsible for preparing, installing, monitoring, and removing vehicles from dynamometer (dyno) test sites while ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient testing operations. This role supports vehicle testing activities, maintains compliance with safety and quality standards, participates in continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Review test communications and work instructions before testing activities.
• Complete the vehicle test request process accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare vehicles for testing by performing required inspections and setup.
• Install vehicles onto dynamometer (Dyno) test equipment following standardized procedures.
• Monitor vehicle performance throughout testing and document test results.
• Remove vehicles from the test site safely upon completion of testing.
• Maintain test areas free of hazards including snow, ice, oil, fuel spills, and debris.
• Conduct scheduled safety observation tours and investigate safety incidents with Team Leaders (TL) and Group Leaders (GL), implementing corrective actions.
• Perform Workplace Organization (WPO) assignments according to schedule.
• Participate in the Employee Safety Concern Process (ESCP) and promote a safe working environment.
• Participate in Built-in Process Discipline (BPD) activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support problem-solving activities and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
• Communicate and escalate operational issues promptly to appropriate personnel.
• Train team members using the Job Instruction Training (JIT) process and maintain flexibility/training matrices.
• Attend and actively participate in shift overlap meetings.
• Maintain standardized work documentation and ensure procedures remain current.
• Conduct quality audits and resolve quality-related issues.
• Understand and comply with all environmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Complete timecards accurately and on schedule.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating vehicle testing equipment or dynamometer (Dyno) systems preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of automotive systems.
• Ability to follow standardized work instructions and testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and hazard identification.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and support continuous improvement activities.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced automotive testing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in automotive testing, manufacturing, or laboratory operations.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement (CI), or Six Sigma principles.
• Familiarity with workplace safety programs including ESCP, BPD, and WPO.
• Experience training team members using standardized work or Job Instruction Training (JIT).

Work Environment

• Automotive testing laboratory or manufacturing environment.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Exposure to moving vehicles, testing equipment, noise, and varying environmental conditions.
• Must adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
