Material Prep and Handling Specialist

Key Tasks

• Prepare raw materials for machining, welding, and assembly processes.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes for material transport.
• Inspect and verify incoming shipments for quantity, quality, and accuracy.
• Label and organize parts and supplies for ease of access and tracking.
• Track inventory levels and report discrepancies to purchasing or management.
• Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling of materials.
• Package and prepare finished components for shipment.
• Clean and maintain material prep work areas, tools, and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure materials meet quality standards before entering the production line.
• Coordinate with machine operators and welders to prioritize material prep.
• Manage inventory to reduce downtime and maintain consistent workflow.
• Implement and follow safety protocols for material handling and storage.
• Assist with inventory counts and audits as required.
• Safely store hazardous materials in compliance with company standards.
• Operate hydraulic lifting devices to safely transport heavy components.

Technology Skills

• Microsoft Office Suite: Experience with Excel and Word for tracking and reporting.

Knowledge Requirements

• Material Properties: Understanding of metals, composites, and other materials used in heavy equipment.
• Inventory Control: Familiarity with inventory management practices and systems.
• Basic Mathematics: Applied math for measuring, counting, and weighing materials.
