The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing the warehouse operations, trucking, fabrication shops, and daily maintenance of the facility.
Essential Duties
Leadership
- Oversee warehouse operations, facility maintenance, and fabrication shops including trucking, order pulling, receiving, will call, forklift certifications, production, and machine maintenance.
- Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
- Establish or implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, or procedures in conjunction with organization officials or staff members.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance and ensure that all employees are using the proper PPE.
- Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.
- Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
- Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules.
- Inspect the levels of business supplies and raw material to identify shortages.
- Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures.
- Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce losses, decrease time requirements, or improve quality.
- Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
- Recommend corrective or preventive actions to assure or improve product quality or reliability.
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
- Keep maintenance, truck, and forklift logs and reports on daily activities.
- Oversee and lead maintenance procedures at company.
- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
- Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Maintain databases of logistics information.
- Assist production staff with maintenance of production equipment as required.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Supervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignment of 2 or more personnel. Has oversight over hiring, firing, promotions, and assignments.
