SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Resource Advocate plays a vital role in empowering individuals by connecting them with services, supports, and opportunities that strengthen stability and well-being. This position provides personalized guidance, conducts needs assessments, develops action plans, and coordinates referrals to community resources such as housing, healthcare, employment, education, and social services. The Resource Advocate builds trusting relationships, maintains accurate documentation, collaborates with internal teams and external partners, and actively removes barriers that prevent clients from reaching their goals. Through compassionate engagement, strong organizational skills, and knowledge of community systems, this role helps individuals move from crisis toward long-term self-sufficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome guests, conduct intakes, assess needs, and connect individuals with community resources and services.
  • Provide daily supervision of shelter and common areas to ensure safety, structure, and a supportive environment.
  • Offer crisis intervention, de-escalation, and ongoing encouragement to help participants achieve personal goals.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in case management systems.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies and internal teams to support client progress.
  • Lead or assist with groups, activities, food pantry support, and care team responsibilities.
  • Enforce policies and procedures, including safety protocols, room checks, and required screenings.
  • Monitor facility order and cleanliness and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Greet visitors, answer phones, accept donations, and support front desk operations.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Able and willing to interact with shelter guests in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Able to maintain a positive, professional, Christ-like manner with all staff, guests and volunteers.
  • Emotionally healthy and able to respond to guest behavioral issues in a healthy way.
  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be able to share the gospel with others through words and deeds.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software, specifically Word and Excel
  • Has a heart of compassion and caring toward the homeless and hurting, and is passionate about ministering life-transformation.
  • Possesses the ability to work effectively with others in a positive, cooperative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using databases, case management systems, and basic office technology.
  • Ability to enforce policies consistently while treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

This position requires frequent interaction with a homeless population. Will likely interact with individuals who may be intoxicated or under the influence and who may lack socially acceptable personal hygiene

  • Standing for extended periods of time - occasionally
  • May require some work outside, in all climates – occasionally

  • Associates
  • We will train and help school a mature Christian.
