Preschool Assistant Teacher

Open Arms Christian Preschool is a non-profit, ministry of River Road United Methodist Church and is hiring for a Full Time Assistant Toddler Teacher for our wonderful program. This position is a permanent full time position that will begin employment in the Summer Camp Program and move into the following school year . Scheduled work hours for this position is Monday - Friday (8:30am-5:00pm; with a 30 min. break); a 40 hour work week is guaranteed and will include paid time off & paid holidays along with all closure dates after 90 days of employment.

To be considered for this position candidate will have the following...

*Professionalism and a love of Christ, is kind, considerate, committed to the Education of young children

*A minimum of 2 consecutive years working in the same school with young children (ages infants-5 years) in a professional (licensed or religious exempt) childcare or preschool setting (preferably Christian school).

*A minimum of a Certificate/CDA/Degree in Early Education -OR- a Higher Degree (or a combination) or willing/working to persue degree/certificate.

*Candidate must be seeking a long term commitment in early education and looking to move into a pototenial Lead Teacher position in the future.

Our program is a private Preschool (9am-12pm) that also offers additional hours for children to attend the before school (8am-9am) and/or afterschool (12pm-5pm) programs. We operate as a Private School having an annual calendar with closure dates, training days, workdays and professional development. We offer all staff paid time off after 90 days of employment, during school closures including; teacher workweeks (2 weeks= 10 days per year), teacher in-service workdays (5-8 days per year), closures & holidays (15 days) , Thanksgiving Break (3 days), 2 weeks Christmas vacation (10 days), 1 week spring break/vacation (5 days), 1 week summer break/vacation (5 days), Personal Paid Days Off and paid days for all closures due to inclement weather. Our program does not offer health benefits, but employees are hired with a stipend to support with benefit payments and employees qualify for virginiamarketplace.com health coverage benefits. Employees at our school are offered paid trainings and access to online classes in Early Education to further their career in Early Education.
