Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, caulking, and applying primer to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and coatings using brushes, rollers, spray guns (including airless and conventional spray equipment), and other hand tools
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and project specifications to accurately execute painting tasks
- Use ladders safely to access high or hard-to-reach areas while adhering to all safety regulations and protocols including respiratory protection measures
- Assist with construction site tasks such as drywall installation, plastering, masonry work, framing, carpentry (including trim carpentry), concrete finishing, and masonry work
- Perform surface preparation for construction painting including sanding, patching holes or cracks, and cleaning surfaces before applying paint or coatings
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials, disposing of waste properly, and ensuring safety standards are met at all times
Experience
- Prior experience in construction painting or related trades such as drywall installation, plastering, or restoration is highly preferred
- Familiarity with residential and commercial painting techniques including brush painting, roller painting, spray painting (including airless spray), and surface preparation methods
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to construction sites including proper use of respiratory protection and fall prevention equipment
- Ability to read blueprints or schematics and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Experience working with power tools such as drills, sanders, sprayers, and hand tools like putty knives or caulking guns
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during surface preparation or coating application
- Hands-on experience with renovation projects involving carpentry (frame carpentry), drywall finishing, stucco application, fixture installation, or masonry work is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently on construction sites with a focus on quality craftsmanship while adhering to safety protocols
