Job Summary & Responsibilities Onto is seeking an Algorithms Engineer to establish the foundational data and evaluation infrastructure required to accelerate defect detection algorithm development. In this role, you will lead a focused effort to transform raw scan data into a reproducible, well‑structured dataset with associated ground truth and evaluation pipelines. Your work will enable reliable benchmarking of both classical algorithms and machine learning / AI models, laying the groundwork for future algorithm innovation. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field. Strong experience with algorithm development, data engineering, or machine learning pipelines. Hands‑on experience working with large, unstructured or semi‑structured datasets. Familiarity with principles of ground truth creation, dataset versioning, and experimental reproducibility. Experience defining evaluation metrics and benchmarking workflows for algorithms or ML models. Proficiency in Python and common data/ML tooling. Strong analytical thinking and ability to work independently on ambiguous, foundational problems. Why Join Onto Innovation?
