Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to join the Finance team supporting both OnSyte Performance (OSP) and OnSyte Septic GA.
This role is designed for an early-career accounting professional who wants to build a strong foundation in operational accounting. The successful candidate will begin with ownership of the Accounts Payable process while gradually expanding responsibilities into general accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
This position provides significant growth opportunities and direct mentorship from senior accounting leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices for OSS and OSP
- Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation
- Prepare weekly payment runs
- Maintain vendor records and W-9 documentation
- Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies
- Assist with credit card reconciliations
- Monitor AP aging and outstanding liabilities
General Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries
- Assist with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules
- Assist with fixed asset accounting
- Support account analysis and variance investigation
Reporting & Process Improvement:
- Maintain accurate accounting documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows
- Assist with Excel-based reporting and reconciliations
- Support internal and external audit requests
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred but not required:
- QuickBooks experience
Success After 12 Months
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Independently manage AP for multiple operating companies
- Participate in monthly financial close
- Prepare standard journal entries
- Complete reconciliations with minimal supervision
- Support financial reporting and audit activities
- Function as a developing Staff Accountant capable of assuming broader accounting responsibilities
