Civil Estimator

Job Overview

The Civil Estimator is responsible for ensuring detailed cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge on all aspects of civil construction including; cement powder, aggregates, redi mix plant operations, piling, and material handling in both inland and marine environments.

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to understand project scope and requirements
• Scouting project sites for detailed logistics planning and mobilization sites.
• Performing quantity take-offs and calculating labor, material, and equipment costs
• Preparing lump sum and unit rate cost estimates
• Identifying “high risk” areas within the bid and conducting risk assessments
• Working with suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure a complete scope has been identified
• Utilizing estimating software and industry best practices to produce accurate an comprehensive estimates
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Build trust and work within a small team environment
• Ability to professionally communicate with potential clients

Key Skills:

• Analytical skills to perform detailed cost analysis, risk assessment and problem solving
• Software proficiency with estimating tools such as TEAMS, RIB Construction Suite or other industry-standard software
• Clear and concise communication skills

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent,
• Minimum of 10 yrs of experience or equivalent in related field
• Ability to perform advanced calculations and interpret technical data
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Working knowledge of safety practices
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to travel

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree within an Engineering discipline.
• Large Project Estimating Experience
• Experience with Primavera scheduling software
• Project controls experience

Work Environment:

• Work performed in office, at plant and job site locations
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and active construction environments
• Regular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
• Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment
• Required use of PPE

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
