Civil Foreman

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Civil Foreman to lead our field crews and oversee daily operations on heavy civil construction sites. In this role, you will be responsible for directing labor, coordinating equipment, ensuring strict adherence to blueprints, and maintaining a culture of safety. The ideal candidate has deep experience in dirt work, underground utilities, or paving, alongside proven leadership skills to keep projects on time and within budget.

Core Responsibilities

• Crew Leadership: Direct, schedule, and mentor daily tasks for field crews, including equipment operators, pipelayers, and laborers.
• Project Execution: Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, and structural drawings to ensure work is completed to exact engineering specifications.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce all OSHA and company safety regulations. Conduct daily toolbox talks and routine jobsite hazard assessments.
• Resource Coordination: Manage the onsite layout, tracking, and staging of materials, tools, and heavy machinery (excavators, dozers, loaders).
• Progress Tracking: Complete daily logs, track production quantities, and submit accurate crew timesheets to management.
• Quality Control: Inspect work in progress to ensure quality standards are met, minimizing rework and deflecting potential delays.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience in heavy civil construction (earthworks, utilities, concrete, or roadway construction), with at least 12 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, site layouts, and grade stakes.
• Certifications: OSHA 10Hour or 30Hour certification (preferred or required upon hire). First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
• Driving: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical Ability: Able to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand, walk, or kneel for extended periods.
