Onsite is part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long-term development and career progression.

We’re looking for a Semi skilled Operative to join our high-performing Wessex Water Framework team, based out of our Glastonbury yard.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in a variety of projects including minor civils, drainage, surveys, and leakage detection/repair. If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a strong team, and making a real impact on essential infrastructure, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Role

As a key member of the team, you’ll support a range of operational activities, including:

• Carrying out minor civils and groundworks, including excavations and reinstatement
• Supporting drainage and sewer investigations using CCTV equipment
• Assisting with leakage detection using specialist tools
• Setting up site safety measures and traffic management systems
• Conducting site surveys and recording data using handheld devices
• Installing drainage systems, pipework, and civil structures (e.g. chambers, manholes, bases)
• Supporting temporary works and construction activities
• Ensuring full compliance with health & safety procedures, including RAMS and PPE
  
  

What You’ll Need

• Experience working within a civil engineering or water industry environment
• Solid understanding of drainage systems and minor civils works
• Ability to safely operate tools, plant, and machinery
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings
• A proactive approach to problem-solving
• Strong commitment to health & safety standards
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Valid CSCS card
• Ability to work effectively as part of a high-performing team
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop
