Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally at the front desk, ensuring excellent patient service and phone etiquette.
- Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and conduct insurance verification processes using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and other EMR/EHR platforms.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including intake documentation review and updating medical records accurately.
- Assist with medical billing and collections, ensuring proper CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review for billing accuracy.
- Handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and administrative documents.
- Support clinical staff with basic medical assisting duties as needed, including specimen collection or patient preparation.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Perform data entry tasks such as 10-key typing and document documentation within various EHR systems.
- Assist in office management tasks including inventory management, appointment reminders, and general clerical support.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology across various specialties including dental terminology if applicable.
- Proven ability to handle administrative duties such as filing, documentation review, multi-line phone handling, and office management tasks.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software.
- Bilingual skills are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
