Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support a hyperscale data center project in Reno, NV. This role focuses on the commissioning, testing, and validation of critical electrical infrastructure to ensure reliable, continuous operations in a mission-critical environment. This is a field-based role supporting fast-track delivery and requires strong hands-on experience with electrical systems commissioning and integrated testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute electrical commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through functional and integrated systems testing (Level 4 / Level 5)
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, checklists, and test procedures
- Witness and document testing of electrical distribution systems including switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, and feeders
- Commission and validate backup power systems including UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS, and PDUs
- Verify grounding, bonding, and power quality systems
- Coordinate closely with Mechanical and I&C commissioning teams to support integrated testing
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications to verify design intent
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies through closure
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation and support turnover to the client
- Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, vendors, and client representatives
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience commissioning electrical systems in mission-critical, data center, industrial, or similar environments
- Strong knowledge of MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, and critical electrical infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and applicable industry standards
- Experience using commissioning tools such as CxAlloy, Bluebeam, and standard documentation platforms
- OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in fast-paced field environments
- Willingness to be onsite daily; travel or rotational schedules may be required
