Position Summary
The Field-Based Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) provides direct behavioral support services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in home, community, and program settings. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) or designated case lead, the BSS implements approved Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Crisis Intervention Plans (CIPs) in compliance with Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) standards.
Position Scope
This is a field-based role responsible for direct service delivery and behavioral support implementation across assigned service areas in Pennsylvania. The position focuses on person-centered interventions, behavioral skill development, and compliance with ODP, OneWell Health Care policies, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality behavioral support services that promote safety, independence, and dignity for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Implement approved Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Crisis Intervention Plans (CIPs) under the supervision of a Licensed Behavior Specialist or designated case lead, provide direct behavioral interventions in home and community settings, and model effective strategies for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and caregivers. Monitor behavioral progress, collect and document data in accordance with ODP timelines, submit incident reports as required, and participate in supervision, team meetings, and progress reviews while maintaining professional communication with families and interdisciplinary team members.

Successful completion of all Pennsylvania ODP Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) trainings and assessments is required prior to assignment of cases

Maintains strict confidentiality of participant, employee, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA, ODP requirements, and OneWell policies.
Documentation Requirements
Behavioral data collection and progress notes
Incident reports and required follow-ups
Attendance and service verification records
C2S documentation in compliance with ODP timelines
Certifications
Required ODP and OneWell training completion
Crisis intervention training as assigned
Additional certifications as required by ODP or program needs
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, ABA, or related field
OR
Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant IDD experience
Experience
Experience implementing behavioral interventions preferred
Experience working with individuals with IDD and Autism
Familiarity with ODP service delivery standards strongly preferred
Technical Skills
Behavioral data collection and reporting
Electronic documentation systems (C2S preferred)
Microsoft Office and basic technology proficiency
Languages
English proficiency required. Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
Driver License
Valid driver’s license required. Reliable transportation and proof of insurance required.
Travel Requirement
This position requires regular local travel to participant homes, community settings, and program locations within assigned service areas.
