Minimum Position Qualifications:
1. High school diploma required. GED or National Career Readiness Certificate may be substituted for diploma.
2. Some experience in general maintenance or as a maintenance helper in duties such as dry wall repair, painting, grounds maintenance, room setup, etc.
3. Must have a current driver’s license and driver’s insurance.
4. Must have some tools.
5. Demonstrate proven sensitivity to the various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of Children’s Home clients and staff, including a commitment to use of the Sanctuary Model and to the philosophy of All Children, All Families framework of cultural competencies.
6. Must be a self-starter with ability to work to high standards without close supervision.
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the overall upkeep of the campuses in helping or utilizing basic “handyman” skills including dry wall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and grounds maintenance under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Position normally works M - F with rotating on-call duties.

Maintenance Functions (75%)
1. Assists with daily maintenance and repair required to ensure that CHNK property meets the internal standards and local and state codes and licensing requirements, using skills or assisting others with skills in plumbing, electric, carpentry, dry wall, and other trades. (80%)
2. Assists the staff in setting up rooms for special meetings or training events. (5%)
3. Assists with grounds maintenance. (5%)
4. Supports needs of Covington Independent Schools facility as assigned. (5%)
5. Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Physical demands and work environment:
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, squat, and hold objects or carry.
2. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
3. Work environment may require exposure to inclement weather including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, and wind. Some duties are performed in a normal office environment, others are performed inside and outside of buildings undergoing maintenance and repair and may result in exposure to particulates, lubricants, paint, pollen, dirt and other materials normally associated with renovation, repair, and upkeep of property including buildings , lawns, parking areas, and driveways.
Wage is variable and negotiable depending upon background and experience, but generally in the $19 - $22 per hour range.
Schedule may vary, but is typically Monday - Friday with evening and weekend on-call shifts rotating.

Life and Long Term disability provided to staff free of charge. Retirement plan includes a 8% employer match of annual wage after 1 year of employment.
