Position Summary
The Radiology Procedure RN provides nursing care to outpatients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. Responsibilities include admitting, assessing, monitoring, and recovering outpatients before and after procedures; administering medications as ordered; monitoring patient responses; and collaborating with radiology providers to ensure safe, high-quality care. The RN performs other related duties and procedures as assigned, in accordance with NYSNA collective bargaining agreement, Oneida Health policies, and New York State nursing regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care
· Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures.
· Performs pre-procedure assessments, including review of medical history, laboratory results, allergies, and informed consent verification.
· Prepares patients physically and emotionally for procedures, providing education and addressing patient and family concerns.
· Administers medications, including moderate sedation and contrast agents, in accordance with physician orders, hospital policy, and scope of practice.
· Monitors patients intra-procedure and post-procedure, including vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, and potential complications.
· Provides post-procedure recovery care, discharge teaching, and follow-up instructions.
Patient Safety and Quality
· Maintains strict adherence to infection prevention, radiation safety, and sterile technique standards.
· Recognizes and responds appropriately to patient emergencies and changes in condition.
· Documents nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
· Participates in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities.
Collaboration and Communication
· Works collaboratively with radiologists, advanced practice providers, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
· Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
· Participates in handoff communication to ensure continuity of care.
Professional Practice
· Practices within the scope of professional nursing standards, New York State Nurse Practice Act, and Oneida Health policies.
· Maintains required licensure, certifications, and competencies.
· Participates in mandatory education, staff meetings, and in-service training.
Additional Responsibilities
· Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with job classification and in accordance with hospital policy, professional nursing standards, and the NYSNA Collective Bargaining Agreement
Qualifications:Qualifications
Education
· Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
Licensure and Certification
· Current New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required within a specified timeframe, per department policy.
Experience
· Previous experience in interventional radiology, critical care, ambulatory surgery, or procedural nursing preferred.
· Moderate sedation experience preferred.
· Experience with IV insertions and port draws preferred
