Accountant / Bookkeeper

Overview
We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support our expanding portfolio of North Country clients. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, communicates clearly with clients, and works collaboratively within a small, high‑performing team. Strong QuickBooks experience is essential; Drake Tax experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage QuickBooks Online and Desktop bookkeeping for multiple clients
• Process QuickBooks payroll accurately and on schedule
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts with precision
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and year‑end summaries
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve questions, and maintain strong relationships
• Support tax preparation workflow, including data entry and document organization (Drake experience helpful)
• Maintain organized digital files and follow established internal processes
• Assist with clean‑ups, catch‑up projects, and special assignments as needed
• Contribute to a team‑oriented environment, supporting coworkers during peak periods

Qualifications

• 2 years accounting or bookkeeping experience (multi‑client or firm experience preferred)
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
• Experience with QuickBooks payroll
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Proven reliability — consistent attendance, timely communication, and dependable follow‑through
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
• Excellent communication skills and comfort with client interaction
• High attention to detail and strong organizational habits
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tax Prep or Drake Tax Software
• Multi client /client facing experience

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
