Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Landscaping is responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of all landscaped areas within the property, ensuring the highest aesthetic standards aligned with our brand identity. This role leads the Landscaping team in its daily operations, driving them to deliver outdoor environments that enhance the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Landscaping team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability
- Develop and implement landscaping projects focused on beautification that caters to seasonality
- Ensure the optimal condition, cleanliness, and presentation of all outdoor spaces across the property
- Monitor, respond to, and follow up on work orders, including internal or external requests related to landscaping
- Maintain strong interdepartmental communication, supporting operational needs
- Design and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all landscaping areas
- Promote and implement sustainable practices, including water conservation, composting, and efficient irrigation systems
- Manage departmental administrative tasks such as financial budgeting, cost control, and supplier coordination
- Ensure all work is completed with high quality standards, while adhering to deadlines
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all areas
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the technical skills of the team
- Create a positive work environment based on respect, trust, and motivation
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Facilities or other members of management
Skills, Experience, & Educational Requirements
- Proven experience in landscaping management, horniculture, or garden operations
- Technical knowledge in landscaping design, plant physiology, plant selection, soil science, fertilization programs, irrigation systems, water management, integrated pest and disease control
- Understanding of sustainable landscaping practices, native species protection, and environmental conservation
- Proven experience managing budgets, suppliers, and projects
- Proficiency in driving and operating heavy equipment
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach teams
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling
- Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 75 pounds
- Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
