The Retail Pharmacist is a patient-focused professional responsible for operating the 340B Retail Pharmacy within the One Community Health clinic in Hood River, Oregon. This position will be full-time on site at our Hood River Clinic location. This role provides high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensures the safe and effective use of medications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. In addition, this position will meet with patients in a clinical setting supporting medication management and making recommendations to providers based on patient specific parameters.

The Retail Pharmacist plays a critical role in maintaining efficient and accurate pharmacy operations, including compliance with the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Key responsibilities include processing prescriptions, supervising inventory management, maintaining regulatory compliance, and optimizing 340B program benefits to support our mission of delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Dispensing:
    • Accurately dispense medications prescribed by clinic providers, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and dosage instructions.
  2. Patient Counseling:
    • Provide comprehensive counseling to patients on medication use, including potential side effects, interactions, and adherence strategies.
  3. Medication Therapy Management (MTM):
    • Conduct medication reviews, collaborate with patients and providers to optimize therapy, and address medication adherence issues.
  4. Clinical Collaboration:
    • Partner with healthcare providers and the clinical support team to deliver optimal pharmaceutical care, including offering therapeutic recommendations and drug information.
  5. Chronic Disease Management:
    • Support patients with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma) through medication management, follow-ups, and education on lifestyle modifications.
  6. Immunization Services:
    • Administer immunizations in accordance with state regulations and clinic protocols.
  7. Patient Education and Advocacy:
    • Educate patients on disease prevention, health promotion, and lifestyle changes to enhance medication effectiveness.
  8. Inventory Management:
    • Oversee medication and supply inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels, ordering, and storage in compliance with regulations.
  9. Regulatory Compliance and 340B Administration:
    • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with federal, state, and clinic standards.
    • Monitor pharmacy performance metrics and implement strategies to optimize 340B program benefits and expansion.
  10. Team and Organizational Support:
    • Uphold and promote One Community Health�s philosophy, mission, and core values.
    • Consistently follow and support established guidelines and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Active and unrestricted Oregon Pharmacist License (or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire).
  • At least one year of experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Prior experience with the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
  • Comprehensive clinical knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Strong passion for patient education and medication management.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse healthcare team.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and workplace safety.
  • Capacity to adapt and thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Active pharmacist immunization certification.
  • Experience in chronic disease management and Medication Therapy Management (MTM).
  • Previous experience in a community or migrant health center (FQHC) or similar healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with EPIC Willow Ambulatory or similar pharmacy management systems.
  • Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification (BCACP or BCPS)

Compensation:

  • Salaried/Exempt: $150,000.00
  • Bilingual Differential: Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
