Assists the hospital by ensuring compliance in all areas that fall under the environment of care.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the coordination, development, and implementation of surge capacity plans with local health and emergency agencies
- Assists in completion of HRSA Deliverables as required
- Helps ensure compliance with Hazardous waste management as needed.
- Responsible for conducting hazardous waste rounds to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for conducting construction rounds when warranted.
- Responsible for conducting fire drills.
- Train staff members in Fire Safety and Interim Life Safety as warranted.
- Ensures planning, implementation, and evaluation of system-wide exercises.
- Responsible for inspection of fire extinguishers.
- Responsible for inspection of fire hoses.
- Coordinates techniques when needed protocols for emergency response and mitigation.
- Assist the Director of Safety by conducting proactive rounds of the environment.
- Participates in Environment of Care rounding.
- Assists with the development of site safety plans and other related EM documents.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum one year related experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with all levels of personal and public in a professional manner
- Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calm and efficiently
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
Licenses, Certifications:
- ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
- Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Run as needed
- Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination
- Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments
