General Description:
Under the supervision and guidance of the Marketing Director or VP of Sales & Marketing, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the creation of work-products to support Marketing Campaigns, Agency Rewards/ Producer Incentive program materials per Program guidelines, content management for our website, and other duties related to support of new, current, and future marketing efforts. Graphic design for digital and print marketing efforts. Experience with social media platforms and video production. The specialist implements all marketing communication strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure all communication throughout entire organization adheres to the Universal corporate brand governance document.
Help Director, and serve as the backup, for emergency communications (such as bulletins to agents alerting them of state/zip closures and re-opening, and employees emergency communications, etc.) Since these are emergency communications, they are not scheduled, and many times occur after normal business hours and on weekends.
Participate with marketing leadership in managing project budgets and negotiates with outside vendors to ensure cost effectiveness and Universal’s highest standard of quality.
Strategic development & creation of bulletins, newsletters, promotional marketing materials, web content, presentations, proposals, letters of correspondence with agents and policyholders, sales collateral, etc.
Use marketplace and industry trends information to design and develops marketing events and activities that supports the department’s strategies and enhances customer relationships.
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the Marketing content on Universal North America’s website. Place material, review for accuracy, and update website, requiring intermediate to expert knowledge of HTML and graphics. Schedule and promote webinars and On-Demand webinars to agents. May occasionally need to record On-Demand videos for various states.
Assist Marketing & Communications Manager and Sales Management in preparation for trade shows, sales meetings, agent presentations and similar activities, including attending offsite events.
Design & develop collateral material, e.g., flyers, agent & policyholder communication, collateral marketing pieces & other work-product as directed.
Perform other duties as required.

Education and / or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required, with at least three (3) years of working experience in the insurance industry, marketing, or similar field.
Strong understanding of insurance industry, in particular Property/Casualty.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including superior presentation skills.
Media relations experience is highly desired.
Must be creative and capable of working under general supervision.
Must have knowledge of design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Must have basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Have a basic knowledge of social media platforms and company acceptable responses.
Must be able to perform a variety of tasks and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work well independently.
