Once Upon a Time Schoolhouse Preschool & Childcare is a center located in Belleville, WI. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work with the Center Director managing the staff side of the business. This position is responsible for managing various HR functions, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This role requires a proactive approach to employee relations, recruitment, and administrative tasks while supporting the overall HR strategy. The hours for this position would be 8:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday--no night or weekend work. This position works with the Center Director, Staff Resource Coach and Administrative Assistant to maintain daily operations. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the recruitment process including job postings, screening resumes, and conducting interviews using ATS systems.
  • Facilitate employee orientation programs to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the company culture.
  • Daily staff scheduling
  • Manage employee relations by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Assist in change management initiatives to help employees adapt to organizational changes smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and manage HR databases.
  • Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment and communication of benefits options to employees using platforms like ADP.
  • Collaborate with management on performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Utilize social media management skills to enhance employer branding and attract potential candidates.

  • Administer benefit and compensation programs.
  • Manage training and development programs - identifying needs
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for children and families
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings
  • Provide and track staff education & certifications, continuing education, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all areas
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of change management principles to support organizational transitions effectively.
  • Experience in employee orientation processes and fostering positive employee relations within the workplace.
  • Ability to leverage social media for recruitment purposes and enhance company visibility as an employer of choice.
Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or education in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Previous experience working in the human resources field (recruitment, employee relations, performance management, scheduling, benefit management, worker's compensation, insurance management, etc.).
  • Previous management and supervisory experience (2 years).
  • Strong knowledge of the human resources field and general practices.
  • Experience using technology (i.e., Email; Google Docs; Word; Excel; Canva; etc.).
  • Ability to manage crisis situations professionally and effectively.
  • Positive attitude: Find and share the positives! Solve the negatives or let them go.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required. 
Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources or related field required.
Ability to Commute to Belleville, WI required.
