Position Highlights:
- Schedule: Flexible (PRN)
- Hours: Various hours available
- Location: New Horizons (Ankeny, Iowa)
Responsibilities of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:
- Lead and facilitate daily programming as outlined by the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
- Promote engagement in meaningful activities that support psychosocial well-being and life skills.
- Provide individualized neurocognitive and neurobehavioral support.
- Implement de-escalation strategies as needed.
- Maintain professional relationships with persons served, families, and team members.
- Collaborate with CTRS on program planning and adapt activities as needed.
- Complete documentation and communicate relevant updates to the care team.

Requirements of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:
- Ability to meet pre-hire criteria (background check and lift test)
Preferred Qualification of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:
- Previous experience working with individuals with neuro diagnoses.
- Associate degree or higher (no degree required).
