Fabrication Operator

The Custom Metal Fabricator will produce, assemble, and prepare metal roofing components for our specialized custom metal roofing systems. These will include standing seam, metal shingles, panels, flashings, and architectural trim. Our Custom Metal Fabricators will translate field measurements, shop drawings, and job specifications into high-precision fabricated parts for installation teams.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Fabricate metal roof components including panels, flashings, gutters, coping, and fascia primarily made from steel, aluminum, and copper 

• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints and cut lists 

• Understand technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication 

• Measure and mark sheet metal according to cut list specifications, using various tools such as rulers, calipers, and marking tools 

• Set the specifications and operate various fabricating machines, including brakes and shears 

• Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and make adjustments as necessary 

• Maintain all safety standards and OSHA requirements  

• Manage inventory and material used for your position by organizing stock, tracking material used, and assisting in procurement initiatives 

• Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure proper fit and timely delivery 

• Keep shop and working areas clean at all times 

• Assist with basic tasks around the shop such as cleaning, trash removal, loading jobs, etc. 

• All other duties as assigned 

Qualifications and Skills:  

• Ability to read architectural blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists and field-measurements 

• Strong physical skills, including precision cutting, bending, and welding as needed 

• Basic computer skills for tracking fabrication orders, producing cut lists, and coordinating inventory 

• Attention to detail for consistent production quality and customer-ready parts 

• Safety-aware mindset, following OSHA and company guidelines  

• Extremely organized and detail-oriented 

• Ensures the shop is clutter free, work areas are cleaned throughout the day, walkaways and floors are clear of debris, tools and supplies are stored in designated places 

Education and/or experience 

• Proven experience in metal shop fabrication, preferably within the construction or roofing industries 

• Proficiency with industrial sheet metal equipment including brake, shear, roller, and fitting tools 

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification or vocational training in metal fabrication or welding preferred
