Description
Key Responsibilities
Utility Locating & Marking
- Locate and mark private underground utilities using electromagnetic locating equipment
- Identify underground:
- Electric
- Gas
- Communications/Fiber
- Water
- Sewer
- Irrigation systems
- Site lighting and private facilities
- Apply APWA color code standards when marking utilities
- Verify accuracy of markings before job completion
- Maintain quality and accuracy standards for all locate assignments
Field Operations
- Travel daily throughout Central Delaware and Southern Maryland
- Work on residential, commercial, industrial, and construction properties
- Operate locating devices, GPS equipment, and mobile applications
- Read and interpret utility maps, prints, and site drawings
- Maintain company vehicle, equipment, and inventory
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete locate reports and ticket documentation accurately
- Upload photos and field notes through mobile systems
- Report unmarked utilities, damaged infrastructure, or unsafe conditions
- Maintain accurate daily production records
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA, company, and client safety procedures
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Maintain safe driving practices
- Use proper traffic control procedures when required
Customer Interaction
- Communicate professionally with contractors, homeowners, and project managers
- Explain utility markings and locate limitations when necessary
- Coordinate with supervisors on difficult or high-priority locate requests

- Central Delaware
- Southern Maryland

- Commercial properties
- Industrial facilities
- Construction and excavation sites
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently
- Basic computer and smartphone/tablet skills
- Ability to read maps and follow directions
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to walk long distances and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous utility locating experience
- Knowledge of private utility infrastructure
- Construction or field service experience
- Experience with GPS or GIS systems
- Understanding of APWA utility color codes
- Experience using locating equipment such as:
- Vivax
- Radiodetection
- Subsite

- Outdoor field environment
- Exposure to weather, traffic, uneven terrain, and construction zones
- Daily driving and walking required
- Occasional overtime and emergency response assignments

Salary
$23 - $28 per hour
