Job Overview

On Target Staffing is hiring 7 experienced Industrial Maintenance Technicians for a leading food manufacturing facility in Opelika, AL!

Starting pay is $33.00 per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation based on demonstrated technical abilities and successful completion of skills assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting on systems up to 480V.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and industrial control systems.
• Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Support automated production equipment, robotics, and manufacturing systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and established equipment safety protocols.
• Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve operational issues.
• Participate in preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, production, or a comparable industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience maintaining or repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and mechanical maintenance practices.
• Working knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and industrial equipment safety standards.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues independently and collaborate effectively with maintenance and production teams.
• Willingness to learn new equipment, technologies, and maintenance processes.
• Ability to understand, communicate, and follow essential workplace safety instructions, equipment warnings, and emergency procedures in English, as required for safe operations.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 or more years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience in food manufacturing or food processing facilities.
• Familiarity with FDA or USDA-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Multivac or Reiser equipment.
• Experience maintaining industrial blenders, augers, grinders, or forming equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, and control systems.
• Advanced electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant hands-on experience will be considered.

Work Schedule

• Rotating schedule consisting of 4 days on/3 days off, followed by 3 days on/4 days off.
• Weekend availability is required.
• Overtime may be required based on operational needs and will be compensated in accordance with applicable law.

Physical Requirements

The position may require:

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and climbing.
• Occasional crawling or working in confined equipment areas.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing more than 25 pounds, depending on the task and equipment involved.
• Working around industrial machinery, moving equipment, and production operations.
• Following established safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
