On Point Prep Academy is a nonprofit independent school designed for student-athletes who are committed to achieving excellence in both academics and athletics. Our mission is to prepare students mentally and physically for placement in top collegiate programs through flexible learning options, year-long competitive training opportunities, and leadership development.
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Teaching Assistant to facilitate academic lessons for middle and high school student-athletes. This position is ideal for an educator, experienced tutor, retired teacher, graduate student, or subject-matter expert who enjoys helping students reach their academic potential while balancing their passions outside of the classroom.
Position Overview
The Teaching Assistant will work directly with students to facilitate lesson plans, improve study habits, and support successful completion of coursework. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, and passionate about helping students develop confidence and independence as learners.
This role may include supporting students across multiple subject areas, including Mathematics, English/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and executive functioning skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic instruction for middle and high school students.
- Support students with coursework, assignments, projects, and test preparation.
- Help students develop effective study habits, organization, and time-management skills.
- Monitor student progress and communicate academic concerns or successes.
- Encourage accountability, confidence, and independent learning skills.
- Collaborate with school leadership to support academic goals.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and encouraging learning environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent tutoring/teaching experience
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students.
- Strong knowledge in one or more academic subject areas.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to supporting student growth and success.
Preferred:
- Current or former teaching certification.
- Experience in schools, tutoring, or college-preparatory environments.
- Experience supporting student-athletes or highly motivated students.
- Familiarity with NCAA academic eligibility expectations is a plus.
Schedule
- Part-time position.
- Flexible schedule based on student needs and class schedule.
- Expected hours: approximately 10–15 hours per week.
- Additional hours may become available as enrollment grows.
