Position SummaryThe Director of Operations (DOO) for On-Demand Concrete is responsible for leading and executing all day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality, and profitable performance across all locations and operational functions.
This role is designed to transition daily operational responsibility away from ownership, allowing the CEO to focus on strategic growth, geographic expansion, and new initiatives, while maintaining operational excellence and scalability.
Operational Scope- 23 Volumetric concrete delivery trucks
- Dispatch team (3)
- General Manager oversight
- Sales operations support (internal & external sales)
- Quality Control (QC Manager and Field QC)
- Maintenance team (2 mechanics)
- Yard operations in Denver, Greeley, Loveland, and Salt Lake City, UT
- Develop mobile ready mix plant/ load-on-site division
- Coordination with shared services (Finance, HR, Safety, Admin)
Key Responsibilities• Lead and hold operational leaders accountable
• Own day-to-day concrete operations and dispatch execution
• Ensure concrete quality and QC compliance
• Oversee fleet, maintenance, and yard performance
• Lead Salt Lake City branch startup and stabilization
• Execute blend plant and load-on-site division launch
• Champion safety and regulatory compliance
• Partner with Finance on operational performance
• Support leadership transition and company growth
Authority & Decision MakingThe Director of Operations has authority over daily operational decisions, staffing recommendations, workflow design, and resource allocation. Major strategic, capital, or ownership-level decisions are escalated to the CEO.
Required Experience & Qualifications• 10 years in concrete or ready-mix operations
• 5 years in senior operations leadership
• Strong background in dispatch-driven, fleet-based environments
• Experience launching new locations or major equipment
• Deep understanding of concrete quality and field performance
Key Measures of Success• Ownership removed from daily operations
• Improved fleet utilization and dispatch efficiency
• Consistent concrete quality and reduced issues
• Successful Salt Lake City expansion
• Successfully oversee ready mix style plant division
