Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Facility Type: 16‑20 Bed Assisted Living Facility (Level 1-3 Licensed)
Reports To: Delegating Nurse (DN) & Assisted Living Manager (ALM)
Position Summary
The CNA/GNA provides hands‑on personal care, support with activities of daily living (ADLs), and resident engagement in a small, home‑like assisted living environment. This role is essential to maintaining resident dignity, safety, and quality of life while supporting the mission of providing compassionate, individualized care.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Resident Care
- Assist residents with all ADLs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, and oral hygiene.
- Support safe mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Provide meal assistance, hydration, and snacks as needed.
- Perform routine weight checks, vital signs, and monitoring per facility policy.
- Maintain resident rooms in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
Resident Observation & Reporting
- Observe residents for changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition.
- Promptly report changes to the Delegating Nurse and ALM.
- Document care, observations, and interactions accurately and timely.
- Support fall prevention, infection control, and safety protocols.
Support for Medication Technicians & Nursing Staff
- Collaborate with CMTs during medication pass by preparing residents, assisting with positioning, and monitoring for reactions.
- Communicate resident needs that may impact medication administration or care plans.
Resident Engagement & Quality of Life
- Encourage participation in activities, socialization, and daily routines.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Promote independence while respecting resident preferences and dignity.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Follow all COMAR 10.07.14 Assisted Living regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to resident rights.
- Participate in required in‑service training, emergency drills, and staff meetings.
- Uphold facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland CNA and/or GNA certification in good standing.
- Current CPR & First Aid certification (required before working independently).
- TB clearance at hire annual TB symptom screening.
- Experience in assisted living, long‑term care, or home care preferred.
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/push/pull 25–50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist with mobility for extended periods.
- Ability to safely perform transfers and ADL support.
Work Schedule
- Day, evening, or overnight shifts depending on facility needs.
- Weekend and holiday rotation required.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working in a small‑team environment.

Pay: $37,500.00 - $52,000.00 per year
