Medical Billing Coordinator
Job Overview: This position will require the employee to have attention to detail. Will be responsible for working each appeal issue to the fullest. Will be responsible for taking all necessary action to assure completion of the appeal. Employee will need to use problem solving skills to determine how to properly complete the appeal.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Verify that the appeals received from your assigned collector have been worked according to office policy.
- Assure all appeals are prepared according to the appeals checklist created by management
- Keep a master spreadsheet for all appeal issues that need to be resolved from outside parties.
- Follow-up and track to assure no appeals are missed and all required information has been submitted.
- Mail, fax or e-mail all appeals within a timely manner. A timely manner is 1 week from the date the appeal is received via e-mail from the collector.
- Send all information to the insurance companies to support the argument on the appeal.
- Document everything in Medisoft related to any action that has been taken to complete the appeal, including but not limited to, research, coding changes, address/fax number/ e-mail address the appeal was sent.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of Medical Billing and Coding or Associates degree
- 1 year experience required if school was not completed
