What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Quality Assurance Tech position at Omaha Steaks?
Location: 1340 South 153rd Street, Papillion, NE, 68138, US (On-site)
Job Summary:
Responsible for monitoring product temperatures, cold-storage conditions, and handling practices throughout the facility to ensure compliance with established food safety and quality standards.
Major Job Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Performs daily calibrations of testing thermometers and accurately documents results on thermometer calibration forms.
- Monitors and records temperatures in designated cold-storage areas, including product freezers, coolers, and ride-along freezers, ensuring compliance with established temperature requirements.
- Monitors and records product temperatures in areas outside designated cold-storage environments.
- Inspects product and cooler handling practices throughout the facility, including shipping, mezzanine, and packing areas. Documents deficiencies and corrective actions on inspection forms and communicates issues to CF Management.
- Monitors the jackpot lane for tote accumulation and takes appropriate action to address potential issues.
- Monitors the Tote Monitor system to ensure totes do not exceed established time limits outside designated cold-storage areas and takes corrective action as needed.
- Verifies that “ice on bottom” packing lanes maintain required zone compliance and takes appropriate action to address any deficiencies.
- Conducts quality assurance checks on product labels, date codes, and ingredient label legibility, addressing and reporting discrepancies as appropriate.
- Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality in accordance with company expectations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies, deficiencies, and potential product quality concerns.
- Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively in challenging situations.
- Understands proper product handling, cold-storage requirements, and food safety practices.
- Ability to monitor and record product and facility temperatures and perform thermometer calibrations.
