This position is responsible for aggressively pursuing wholesale marketing opportunities within the Southwest Power Pool Integrated Marketplace (SPP IM) and other markets to maximize profitability and mitigate portfolio risk. The Energy Marketer will adhere to SPP commitment instructions and may make unilateral decisions to dispatch generating facilities through in-depth analysis of market trends. The position will optimize resource offers and unit parameters to serve the wholesale load requirements of OPPD, which effectively lowers the costs passed on to the customer-owners. These responsibilities are coupled with the safe, reliable operation of OPPD's bulk energy system as required by NERC compliance standards.

- This position is considered essential and shift work is required**
- Generate Revenues and Cost Savings in the Wholesale Energy Markets while reliably coordinating the Operations of OPPD's Generation Fleet
- Pursue real-time transaction opportunities inside and outside of the SPP IM to maximize profitability, minimize costs, and meet SPP requirements.
- Manage OPPD transmission positions and tags for interchange transactions outside the SPP IM.
- Aggressively perform market analytics using statistical applications to identify revenue-generating opportunities and cost savings in accordance with OPPD's Risk Policy.
- Optimize energy and operating reserve offers in the SPP IM.
- Develop thorough understanding of SPP IM Market Protocols.
- Reliably coordinate the operations of OPPD's Generation Fleet
- Efficiently manage the OPPD generation fleet by optimizing offer parameters committed by the SPP IM Day-Ahead Market and Real-Time Reliability Unit Commitment processes.
- Serve as point of contact for actions to correct energy deficiencies through direct control or communication with generating facilities.
- Respond to re-dispatch events through the modification of generation outputs as directed by SPP.
- Monitor day-ahead and real-time market commitments and communicate the results to generation plant personnel.
- Manage energy contracts and curtailment programs to optimize OPPD's position in the SPP IM
- Dispatch OPPD's customer curtailment programs to maximize revenue and reduce peak loads.
- Communicate gas requirement changes that support next-day and intra-day activity to fuel suppliers, while meeting gas market deadlines.
Required:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Quantitative Analysis or related fields, or four years of energy trading experience.
- Ability to become a NERC Certified System Operator within six months of appointment.
- Ability to independently make decisions, work through stressful situations, and solve problems quickly.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and data management skills
- Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Quantitative Analysis or related fields
- NERC Certified System Operator license
- Ability to understand, identify, and quantify risks
