Job Summary:
The Snow Reporter serves as the daily voice of the mountain—collecting, verifying, and sharing up-to-date snow, weather, and terrain information with guests and partners. This role combines communication, storytelling, and on-mountain engagement to ensure that guests receive timely, accurate, and engaging updates about current conditions, resort operations, and winter experiences.

The Snow Reporter role is at the heart of the guest experience—helping share the mountain story every day of the season. As part of the marketing and communications team, the Snow Reporter plays a key role in shaping guest excitement, trust, and anticipation through authentic, real-time storytelling of what's happening on the slopes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Reporting & Data Collection
- Gather and verify snow conditions, weather forecasts, grooming details, and lift/terrain status through direct coordination with Ski Patrol, Grooming, Snowmaking, and Lift Operations teams.
- Ensure all information is accurate, timely, and clearly communicated across internal and external channels.
- Maintain consistency and reliability in morning and midday snow reporting routines.
Content Creation & Publishing
- Write and publish the daily snow report on the resort's website, social media, email updates, and third-party platforms (e.g., OnTheSnow, SnoCountry, etc.).
- Create clear, concise, and engaging copy that reflects the resort's tone, voice, and brand personality.
- Produce and share visual content—photos, short videos, and live updates—to bring mountain conditions to life on social media and resort channels.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to highlight powder days, new snowfall, special operations updates, and weather-related announcements.
Guest Engagement
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding current conditions, trail openings, weather, and lift operations via social media and other communication platforms.
- Work closely with Guest Services to ensure consistent and accurate messaging to guests on-site and online.
- Provide quick, reliable updates during high-impact weather events or operational changes.
Team Collaboration
- Support the Sales & Marketingteam with special content initiatives, storm coverage, and promotional storytelling around fresh snow, events, and resort happenings.
- Participate in morning operations meetings to stay aligned with daily plans and operational changes.
- Contribute to post-storm recaps, blog posts, and other editorial or PR-related snow coverage as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to convey technical or operational information clearly and engagingly.
- Working knowledge of ski area operations, weather, and mountain terrain preferred.
- Comfortable skiing or riding in variable conditions to gather on-hill observations and media.
- Photography and basic video editing experience (mobile or DSLR) preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok) and web content management systems (CMS).
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
- A passion for skiing, snowboarding, and the mountain lifestyle.
- Must be able to work outdoors in winter weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to safely ski or snowboard intermediate to advanced terrain.
- Capable of carrying photography or video equipment as needed.
Wage/Salary:
This position is identified as a Grade 13 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of $21.51 per hour.
