Shift Differentials
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for daily centralized scheduling activities, including but not limited to administrative requirements needed to obtain pre-authorization for medical specialty visits referred by a physician, customer service, patient scheduling, telephone triage, fielding patient referral and billing questions, filing, faxing, sending medical records, and timely and accurate data entry into multiple computer systems and logs. The Referral Coordinator acts as a liaison between the referring physician, technical staff, patient, and insurance companies, and verifies that the exam being requested is appropriate for the diagnosis code identified. The Referral Coordinator also verifies insurance coverage, obtains authorization for services, sets up appointments with referred physicians, and acts as backup during absence of other scheduling staff. The successful incumbent will have experience working as a member of a team and with customers in stressful situations.

- Evening $3.00/hour
- Night $5.00/hour
- Weekend Premium $4.50/hour
- Standby Premium $3.50/hour
- Lead Premium $1.50/hour
- Per Diem Premium 15% (on base, in lieu of benefits)

EDUCATION
- High school diploma/equivalent
- Clinical medical experience or prior training/education in medical terminology required
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures preferred
- Medical Assistant education or training preferred
- Two years’ experience in a medical facility required
- Two years’ experience working with administration requirements for preauthorization or verification of insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, and private/commercial insurances required
- Prior work experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding, third-party payers, pre-authorization requirements and Epic EMR preferred
- Completed training for and has the ability to work at all Heart Center locations
