Salary: $81,176 - $112,865* annually

Olympic College (OC) is recruiting a full-time temporary faculty member to teach courses in Accounting, Business, and Economics Transfer. OC is in search of faculty members who are deeply committed to student-centered education and the promotion of an inclusive and equitable learning environment. As a comprehensive community college, we offer a wide range of programs, including Transitional Studies (e.g., high school diploma and GED preparation, as well as English for English Language Learners), academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates, five applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education services across our two-county region.

This role primarily involves the preparation and delivery of courses in Business Transfer. Core business classes include a three-quarter college-level Accounting series, Macro and Microeconomics, Business Statistics, Business Law, and Introduction to Business. The faculty member in this position will teach accounting in the transfer and professional technical accounting programs, and other courses as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and teach a wide range of Accounting, Business, and Economics course(s) in accordance with the college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines.
  • Teach in-person courses in Bremerton and at other Olympic College campuses/sites in Kitsap and Mason counties, when required.
  • Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and recordkeeping; class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office, as requested; and academic advising and assessment for students.
  • Contribute to the development of program curriculum and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain physical office hours for student consultations; attend faculty, department, and division meetings; serve on college committees; and participate in college governance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Three years successfully teaching of Accounting, Business, or Economics classes in a college setting, particularly community college teaching.
  • Experience teaching a variety of business courses. Applicant must be willing to teach Macro and Microeconomics, Business Statistics, Business Law, Accounting 201, 202, and 203.
  • Experience teaching in a Learning Management System (LMS), preferably Canvas.
  • Information technology competency and the ability to embrace and learn new instructional technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Three years of professional experience in an accounting, business, or finance organization.
  • Competency-based curriculum development experience.
  • Competence in integrating technology for various instructional modes and course delivery (online, Zoom, hybrid, & hyflex).

Terms of Employment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
