Position Summary
The Facilities Mechanic maintains and repairs a variety of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical components.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Assist with installation and adjustment of thermostats, timers, and system controls.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across multiple building systems using appropriate tools.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and maintain accurate records using CMMS software.
- Repair or replace defective components, wiring, and equipment, test circuits for continuity.
- Maintain inventory of tools and parts; ensure work areas are organized and safe.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and participate in on-call rotation.
- Support contractors and monitor compliance during renovations or major projects.
- Enforce safety standards, including PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to support operational goals.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by management.
- Protect employer’s privacy and data; keep passwords safe.
Knowledge and Skill
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related field.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and preventive maintenance practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 80lbs occasionally and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Comfortable working in varied environments, including rooftops and confined spaces.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends when needed.
