Room Attendant

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa is currently seeking a dynamic Room Attendant to join the best Housekeeping team on Marco Island!

POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the cleanliness of rooms. Clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Room attendant s are responsible for

reporting any maintenance deficiencies; handling guest requests; and ensuring the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Clean coffee mugs, glassware, coffee makers, ice buckets, bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, glass, patio, vents and floor surfaces using approved cleaning supplies.

 Strip and make beds, changing bed linens. Monitor the condition of the bedspreads and shower curtains. Change regularly to ensure cleanliness and good condition (no holes, no mildew, no hair, no stains, etc.)

 Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly, maintain room attendant carts cleaned and organized as well as floor closets.

Collect clean linen from the floor closets and bring the dirty laundry to the laundry chute.

 Vacuum the entire room and front of the room entrance leading to the hallway. Separate trash according to recycle guidelines. 

 Replenish amenities including slippers, blanket box in closet, linens, bath robes and supplies in guest room. Maintain updated literature (magazines, books, HBO guide, etc.).

 Visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance. Make sure before exiting the room, it is completed. Punch the room VR. 

 Utilize the system HotSOS. 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

OTHER:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including holidays and weekends.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Able to follow instructions, directions and meet deadlines, including but not limited to the thorough cleaning of a minimum of 14-15 Checkout rooms, 20-21 Stayover rooms or mix as specified by management with limited supervision.
• Able to learn and understand the proper usage of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment.
• Able to extend arms, reach overhead, scrub, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., waist high.
• Able to use gross motor skills to push or pull heavy equipment up to 200 lbs.
• Able to move throughout the premise and visually inspect conditions.
• Possess hearing and speaking ability sufficient to respond to IPods/radio calls, guest requests, etc.
• Ability to speak and understand basic English in order to respond to guest requests.
• Able to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, etc.
• Able to understand the duties, respect the job of others and work as a team player.
• Able to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, noisy, and wet.
• Able to climb stairs.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

• Any combination of education High School or equivalent education preferred.

Experience:

• No experience required. Previous experience preferred.
