Duties
- Operate dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and related commercial vehicles following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines.
- Transport construction materials, debris, hazardous substances, or freight over the road (OTR) routes with precision and safety.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment when necessary, ensuring secure placement of hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries across designated routes while maintaining compliance with route driving protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks to verify proper functioning of brakes, lights, tires, and other critical components.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate delivery schedules, route planning, and cargo handling for maximum efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving with flatbed, tanker, or dump trucks.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or flatbed as applicable.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for load & unload operations.
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures and safety protocols for dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems and route planning to optimize delivery efficiency on over-the-road routes.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazard materials regulations, and safety standards related to truck driving.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts when required for cargo handling or loading operations.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety compliance and adherence to all transportation laws.
