What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal position at Oliver Middle School?
RoleThe Assistant Principal will lead the school’s efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school culture. The Assistant Principal reports to Oliver Middle School’s Principal and serves on the OMS Leadership Team
Specific Responsibilities
• Establish and ensure a joyful, structured, achievement-oriented school culture
• Support and coach teachers to hold all students to consistently high behavioral expectations
• With the principal, build systems and procedures which protect the sanctity of instructional time and reinforce a positive school culture
• Serve as the point person for discipline/culture issues
• Assist teachers, students, and families in the effective creation and implementation of individual behavior plans
• Support efforts to ensure all students have excellent attendance and arrive at school on time and prepared to learn
• Reinforce the effective use of a school-wide behavior plan
• Ensure that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievement
• Oversee the development and implementation of student supports and interventions
• Serve on the Oliver Middle School Leadership Team
Qualifications
A strong belief in Oliver Middle School’s core values: Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, Empathy, and Community
• Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred
• Three years teaching experience required, 2 years of school leadership experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success in leading in a diverse environment
• Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.

Oliver Middle School follows the salary scales and salary placement policies of the Lawrence School District; please see the relevant union’s collective bargaining agreement for additional details.
