Position:
St. Mary of the Annunciation School is seeking a talented, dedicated, passionate, faithful, innovative, and inspiring Assistant Principal. St. Mary’s is a PK–3 to 8th grade Catholic elementary school located in Danvers, MA.
Overview:
The Assistant Principal is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to work in a Catholic elementary school. The Assistant Principal is hired by and is directly accountable to the Principal. The Assistant Principal agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of St. Mary’s and Bishop Fenwick, as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Boston. The Assistant Principal collaborates with the principal and staff in fostering an educational environment that advances the ministry of Catholic education and remains open to a teaching role as needed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Master’s degree in educational leadership or a related field
• At least three years of experience in elementary or middle school settings, including classroom teaching
• A passion for—and commitment to—Catholic education that supports mission alignment and enrollment growth
• Licensure in educational leadership (strongly preferred but not required) • Ability to demonstrate that he/she is a practicing Catholic
Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership
The Assistant Principal serves as a visible and authentic witness to the Catholic faith and fosters a culture rooted in Gospel values.

• Teaches and acts in accordance with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the CatholicChurch
• Supports the integration of faith into all aspects of school life
• Helps cultivate a welcoming, faith-filled community for students, faculty, and families
• Promotes the mission of Catholic education in partnership with school leadership
Instructional Leadership
The Assistant Principal advances academic excellence by supporting high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and faculty growth.
• Evaluates curriculum and supports its ongoing development and alignment
• Assesses faculty performance in accordance with Archdiocese of Boston procedures
• Provides instructional coaching and mentorship, with a strong focus on evaluating and improving teaching practice
• Organizes and facilitates meaningful professional development opportunities
• Uses data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes
• Maintains a strong focus on student-centered learning and achievement
Executive Management
The Assistant Principal ensures effective school operations through organization, communication, and strategic leadership.
• Collaborates closely with the principal to develop and implement short- and long term strategic goals
• Serves as an innovative, strategic thinker, balancing operational needs with visionary planning
• Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, student matters, and school operations
• Cultivates a positive, collaborative team culture among faculty and staff
• Demonstrates strong organizational and leadership skills in managing school initiatives and priorities
• Supports daily school operations and carries out responsibilities as assigned by the principal

• Be an innovative, strategic thinker in developing short- and long-term plans to achieve targeted goals for the students and for the school using data to inform decisions
• Be a leader who is rooted and grounded as well as innovative and responsive, and who always puts the students at the center of every conversation
• Have a proven track record of credible experience in teacher mentoring with a particular focus on evaluating instruction
• Be a practicing Catholic who models and witnesses authentically a life of faith and who is comfortable being the spiritual role model in the school
• Possess a natural and credible leadership presence, who will inspire confidence and cultivate a team spirit and a student-centered focus
• Be able to work closely with the Principal of St. Mary’s to develop a vibrant, innovative, dynamic model for Catholic education on the North Shore
