Reinsurance Associate
Location: New York, NY
Our client is a well-capitalized insurance and asset management organization with a significant global footprint and substantial assets under management. Through a portfolio of operating businesses, the firm provides retirement solutions, wealth protection products, and tailored capital solutions across life insurance, annuities, property & casualty, and reinsurance. The organization is known for its disciplined investment approach, strong balance sheet, and active participation in strategic reinsurance transactions across the U.S. and offshore markets.
The Reinsurance Associate will join a lean, high-impact reinsurance team that partners closely with operating companies to execute strategic reinsurance initiatives and evaluate key business decisions. The team plays an integral role in shaping long-term strategy and works directly with senior leadership on high-priority analyses and transactions.
This individual will support the modeling, communication, and execution of reinsurance transactions and related strategic projects. The role is based in New York, with travel as needed.
Serve as day-to-day execution support for reinsurance initiatives, including financial analysis, model development, market research, and preparation of transaction-related materials
Develop presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders covering topics such as market positioning, transaction pricing, and structural alternatives
Assist in modeling and evaluating strategic reinsurance transactions, including due diligence on transaction structure and economics
Prepare analytical memoranda and materials for senior management and executive leadership
Conduct industry research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and operational efficiencies
Analyze and clearly communicate the financial and strategic impact of potential reinsurance initiatives
Support agenda setting and materials preparation for reinsurance committees and board-level discussions
Assist in developing and refining the firm's overall operational approach to reinsurance
Perform additional analytical and project-based work as needed
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, actuarial science, or a related field
1-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, insurance, reinsurance, actuarial, or related analytical roles
Prior exposure to financial services, particularly insurance, reinsurance, or asset management, strongly preferred
Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing executive-level presentations
Self-motivated, proactive professional with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables and processes
ASA designation or progress toward actuarial exams is a plus, but not required
Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including advanced financial modeling skills with high attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analyses to senior leadership
Demonstrated interest in life insurance, annuities, property & casualty, reinsurance, and asset management industries
Familiarity with statutory accounting and insurance investment frameworks is beneficial
Ability to think strategically and commercially across a range of business scenarios
Strong work ethic with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial data platforms and analytical tools is a plus
