Head of Financial Reporting & Controllership
Location: New York, NY or Omaha, NE
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Industry: Life (Re)Insurance
The Opportunity
A fast-scaling life/annuity insurance platform backed by a top-tier investment firm is building a next-generation M&A insurance company. They are seeking a strategic, execution-driven Head of Financial Reporting & Controllership - a senior leader who can own the full statutory and regulatory accounting reporting agenda while helping shape the finance team.
This is not a "maintenance" role - it's a build, design, and lead mandate. You'll work directly with the CEO and senior leadership on financial reporting, capital deployment, regulatory strategy, and the financial systems and controls underpinning a multi-entity insurance platform.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full statutory close, reporting, and regulatory filing process across multiple U.S. insurance entities.
- Oversee Blue Book reporting, statutory audits, and all aspects of financial controllership with precision and discipline.
- Partner directly with executive leadership on capital planning, reinsurance structures, and investment strategy.
- Build and refine accounting infrastructure, systems, and processes to support rapid scale.
- Oversee asset schedules, investment reporting, and reinsurance accounting with a focus on performance and compliance.
- Serve as a key contact with regulators, auditors, and rating agencies - driving trust and transparency.
- Mentor and grow a high-caliber finance team, instilling a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence.
What You Bring
- 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
- Deep technical knowledge of US STAT, US GAAP, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong background in statutory financial reporting, M&A integration, and reinsurance accounting.
- CPA, MBA, or CFA preferred.
- Hands-on yet strategic - equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves as you are presenting to the board.
- Proven ability to operate in high-growth, high-expectation environments with tight deadlines and evolving priorities.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to step into a CFO-caliber seat at a company backed by institutional capital and led by executives with deep roots in investment management and insurance.
