Personal Care Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and safety, and promote their independence and well-being. Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, mental state, and overall condition; report changes promptly
• Support residents with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations for privacy and confidentiality
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
• Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility
• Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and adherence to infection control protocols
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings while ensuring safety and comfort

Requirements

• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and first aid/CPR certification
• Experience with specialized care such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care or supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation for client outings or appointments is preferred
