Overview
The Behavioral Health Specialist, under the guidance of the Program Supervisor and functioning as a member of an assigned team, provides direct service to children and families as identified in an individualized Wraparound plan of care. This position works independently in the family’s home and in a variety of community and/or treatment settings.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support services and skills training to children and family members including but not limited to behavioral modification programs, independent living skills, home management/household services, transportation assistance and temporary in-home caretaker.
- Work closely with the family, facilitator, parent partners, clinicians, and collateral professionals to provide a safe and successful environment for the youth and family.
- Build solid, cooperative relationships with children, families, and community resources to assist with planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of appropriate activities to achieve the outcomes set forth in the plan of care.
- Modify interventions to be culturally competent and relevant.
- Participate in the 24-hour on-call crisis response system.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and one year experience working with emotionally disturbed children in an institutional setting OR four years’ experience working with emotionally disturbed children in an institutional setting.
- Ability to work as a team, be flexible, dependable and have good communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Able to obtain and maintain a criminal background clearance.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record as determined by Olive Crest’s insurance carrier.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Criminal background clearance.
- Ability to spend significant time driving to and from meetings and client homes
