WISe Family Therapist

Job Overview
The Family Therapist will work as a part of the Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe) team to help implement mental health and wraparound services to youth and families being primarily responsible for stabilizing immediate mental health crises for youth, providing mental health related crisis response, ensuring clinical needs are met within the safety/crisis plan, translating team-based decision making and priorities into therapeutic goals, providing individual and or family therapy as needed, partnering with care coordinator and WISe team to ensure a high quality WISe process, providing clinical judgement and ensure clinical needs are met through all phases of the WISe process, connecting family and youth to services and supports needed as related to mental health, supporting youth, family, and team in navigating the mental health system.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the ethical guidelines of the therapist role/licensure and inform care coordinator/team if mandated reporting is going to occur.
• Communicate and explain WISe services and the WISe process including the essential phases and activities with youth/family.
• Summarize agency protocols and legal/ethical mandates with youth/family and issues to team members.
• Support the team in identifying the team mission and adhering to the WISe process.
• Provide culturally relevant skill building, individual and family therapy.
• Be able to support youth and families comfortably and without judgement in home and community settings.
• Maintain a caseload of approximately 8-12 children/families.
• Maintaining enthusiasm and optimism for services and participation in the WISe process
• Provide collateral information to the care coordinators for the CANS and support the care coordinator with orienting families to CANS.
• Maintain CANS rater certification to ensure understanding of the CANS.
• Participate in WISe team meetings and relevant planning.
• Development safety/crisis plans and discuss immediate crisis with youth/family and assist stabilizing dangerous or harmful situations.
• Close the communication loop and unless there is a significant emergency, do not make decisions outside of the team.
• Attend IEP meetings for the youth if needed to provide insight to supports and modifications related to mental health.
• Support youth and family with advocacy within the mental health system.
• Provide psychoeducation to the WISe team, system partners and family/youth as needed to support depth of understanding of needs.
• Ability to recognize child and family strengths and how to strategically utilize these to facilitate growth within the child and family while ensuring that these strengths are utilized throughout the therapeutic process.
• Participate in weekly meetings including program staff meetings and trainings.
• Respond to and attend to details of crisis situations that may arise during working and non-working (on-call) hours.
• Complete documentation and trainings as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following: Social work, social welfare, marriage, family and child counseling, child psychology, child development, counseling psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology, or education with emphasis on counseling.
• Computer skills. Comfortable working with online documents, databases and other web-based applications.
• Record clearance free of criminal conviction.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to drive between sites for intakes and various community meetings.
• At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in clinical practice of Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy or 5 years of related experience in lieu of post graduate experience.
• Must have and meet MHP (Mental Health Professional) designation.
• A philosophy of support for at-risk children and families in line with the mission, vision, values, and statement of faith of Olive Crest.

Desired Qualifications

• Licensed LMFT, LMHC, LCSW or Licensed Psychologist.
• At least 2 years post-graduate experience in clinical practice.
• Experience in a culturally diverse workplace, working with at-risk children and families and/or child welfare, or in a non-profit organization.

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
