What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Lab Technician position at Oleon?
The Job
We are looking for a Quality Lab Technician for our Conroe, Texas plant.
Some of your main duties & responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor quality standards specific to the blending and esterification processes used in lubricant production in a wide variety of various markets.
- Conduct regular sampling, testing, and analysis of products at various stages of blending and esterification to verify compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, API).
- Implement control checks to monitor process parameters (temperature, mixing speeds, ingredient ratios) to ensure quality consistency and compliance with product specifications.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of quality management systems, tailored to the unique requirements of both blending and esterification processes, in alignment with Oleon’s corporate quality strategy.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, FM and automotive related certifications and industry certifications, with a focus on maintaining consistent quality and reliability in blended and esterified products.
- Adhere to and promote compliance with all HSE procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to both blending and esterification processes.
- Participate in risk assessments specific to blending and esterification and implement corrective actions to enhance safety within these environments.
- Propose solutions and facilitate follow-up actions, ensuring effective internal communication with stakeholders and documenting resolution measures in compliance with Oleon’s quality standards.
- Prepare for and conduct internal and external audits specific to blending and esterification processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory and certification standards
- Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and technical teams to maintain and enhance quality controls across blending and esterification.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices, technological advances, and regulatory standards specific to blending and esterification in oil, gas, and lubricant production.
- Share expertise and insights with colleagues to foster a culture of quality and compliance within Oleon.
- Support the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventative Actions based on RCA outcomes to drive continuous improvement
- Perform administrative tasks including the management of SAP, LIMS management, the creation of instructions, stock management and ordering appropriate laboratory materials.
Who are we looking for?
You'll succeed if:
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in quality management, chemical engineering, or process management are a plus.
- Experience: 3 years in a QA/QC role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ASTM, API standards)
- Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and safety protocols.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
