Position Summary
Old Trail Golf Club is seeking a motivated and dependable Summer Pool Manager on Duty to lead the daily operations of our swim facility and create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for our members and guests.
This position plays a key role in delivering a positive summer experience for families and social members. The Pool Manager oversees lifeguards and pool staff, ensures safety standards are upheld, maintains a clean and organized facility, and helps foster a fun, energetic atmosphere that reflects the hospitality and community spirit of Old Trail Golf Club.
The ideal candidate is a confident leader, strong communicator, and proactive problem-solver who enjoys working with families, youth staff, and club members.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pool operations including opening and closing procedures
- Ensure the pool deck, restrooms, and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well maintained
- Monitor water chemistry and coordinate testing according to health department requirements
- Maintain accurate daily operational logs and safety records
- Coordinate with club management regarding maintenance issues or supply needs
Staff Leadership
- Ensure lifeguards remain alert, professional, and engaged while on duty
- Assist with training and enforcing club standards for member interaction and safety
- Address minor disciplinary issues and communicate concerns to club management
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all lifeguards maintain active certifications and follow safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate appropriate response procedures
- Enforce pool rules consistently and professionally
- Maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations
Member & Guest Experience
- Serve as a friendly and visible presence on the pool deck
- Greet members and guests and help create a welcoming environment
- Address member questions or concerns in a courteous and professional manner
- Help maintain a family-friendly atmosphere throughout the facility
Event & Activity Support
- Assist with coordinating pool activities, swim programs, and special events
- Work with club management to support summer programming that enhances the social experience for members and families
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a lifeguard required
- Current Lifeguard certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations
- Reliable, responsible, and highly organized
Schedule
- Seasonal position: May – September
- Must be available weekends, holidays, and peak summer hours
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
- Ability to work outdoors in varying summer weather conditions
