Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and mission-driven Middle School Math Teacher to join our faculty and serve as the 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher. In this role, you will guide students through OTA's comprehensive mathematics curriculum spanning grades 6–8, delivering instruction that builds from core arithmetic foundations through essential geometric concepts and into algebraic thinking in preparation for high school. As the 8th grade homeroom teacher, you will also serve as a key relationship anchor for your students — supporting their academic progress, social-emotional development, and transition readiness. OTA is committed to developing students with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills who are effective communicators and self-motivated learners, and this position plays a central role in realizing that mission at the middle school level. Key Responsibilities: Instruction & Curriculum: -Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned math instruction across middle school grades (6th–8th), covering pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and data concepts within the Core Knowledge -Sequence framework -Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students who require acceleration and those who need additional support to reach grade-level expectations -Use diagnostic and summative assessment data (including i-Ready) to drive instructional decisions and prepare students for California state assessments -Design and implement Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities that require creativity and problem-solving, giving students the opportunity to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations and take charge of their own learning -Integrate digital literacy and technology tools, including the Canvas LMS and student Chromebooks, into daily instruction -Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to develop cross-curricular PBL projects that connect math to science, history, and STEM
