Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, including data entry, account reconciliation, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards such as GAAP and SOX. Duties
- Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using accounting software such as MCLEOD SOFTWARE
- Reconcile balance sheets and perform account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Manage payroll processing including payroll management and tax compliance
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and SOX compliance standards
- Support budgeting activities and assist with financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct account reconciliations for various accounts including receivables, payables, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with audit preparations and provide documentation for external auditors as needed
- Utilize technical accounting knowledge to support special projects related to financial software implementation or upgrades
Experience
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, or Ceridian is preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance standards, governmental accounting practices, and public accounting environments is advantageous
- Experience in corporate accounting or non-profit accounting is desirable
- Ability to perform high-volume data entry (10 key typing skills) accurately and efficiently
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in account analysis and account reconciliation tasks
- Basic math skills necessary for credit analysis and budgeting activities
